The Sydney Marathon is part of a running festival that includes a choice of distances. Starting from 6.20 am with the half marathon, followed by the marathon, 10k and 3.5k fun run. A world-class event, it has consistently achieved IAAF Road Race Gold Label status and is an Abbott World marathon majors candidate race. The marathon is run on a spectacular course showing off the iconic sights of Sydney.

Arrive in Sydney and make your way to the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay.
This evening join our exclusive Sydney Harbour Cruise* with runners from all over the world, for 2 hours you will enjoy the beauty of the harbour as you look back onto the Sydney skyline.

Saturday 16th September, 2023
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and take the rest of the day to explore Sydney. Explore the magic of the city skyline on the famous BridgeClimb Sydney and take the opportunity to travel as the locals do on the Sydney Harbour Hop on Hop Off Explorer.
This evening you will enjoy a private Pre-Race Dinner*.

Marathon Race Day!
This morning, a representative from Marathon Tours & Travel will walk you to the trains that take you to the starting line. After you finish, stop by and recharge at the Marathon Tours & Travel post-race celebration area. Enjoy some light refreshments before walking back to the hotel on your own. Your hotel is located 800 meters from the finish line.

Event Information

The Course
The Sydney Marathon starts across the harbour at Milsons Point, crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge (Wow!), runs through the city streets, out to the green parks in the suburbs and back to finish in front of the Sydney Opera House. Whilst it’s not a completely flat route the marathon is still considered fast and very runner and spectator friendly. Time limit 7 hours. All the races start and cross over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and finish in front of the Sydney Opera House, except the Fun Run which ends at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

- Sunday, September 17, 2023: Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K and Family 3.5K Run

- 6:00 AM – Half Marathon (September 17)
- 7:05 AM – Marathon (September 17)
- 8:00 AM – Bridge Run 10K (September 17)
- 9:00 AM – Family Fun Run 3.5K (September 17)
Eligibility:
- Marathon – 18 years +
- Half Marathon – 16 years + (participants aged 16 – 18 will be required to sign a special waiver)
- Bridge Run (10K) – No age restrictions
- Family Fun Run (3.5K) – No age restrictions
Time Limit:
- Sydney Marathon – 7 Hours
- Sydney Marathon 21.1K – 2 h 45 min
- Sydney Marathon Bridge Run 10K – 1 h 30 min
- Sydney Marathon Family Fun Run 3.5K – 1 h 05 min

Awards: Everyone who finishes their running event within the time limit will receive a commemorative medal. Marathon finishers will also receive a finishers t-shirt.
Weather: September is the beginning of the spring season in Sydney. Daytime temperatures will range from 16°C – 20°C. You will want to be prepared for some potential chilly westerly winds and chance of rain.

When you confirm your booking, we will take payment.
The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Guaranteed Sydney Marathon Entry
We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2023 Sydney Marathon, Half, Bridge Run, Family Run. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us.
Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Sydney Marathon, Half, Bridge Run, Family Run we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will ask for your expected pace and other details to complete the registration process for the Sydney Marathon Festival. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
All race rules must be followed.
